The therapy space belongs to you! It is my goal for you to feel comfortable and "at home" during our meetings.
The work you do in therapy will likely be uncomfortable, but that's a good thing! Facing that discomfort is a big part of therapy. Know that how you respond to discomfort or pain is not the defining feature of who you are. Usually our reactions are the evidence of something unresolved or a misunderstood struggle that we can explore together.
I look forward to getting to know your unique personality, stories, and interests. These are all important in healing! I am invested in seeing your unique identity unfold.
I offer my knowledge-base on complex trauma and biology which shows up in the langauge and diagrams I usually bring in session to facilitate your understanding of yourself and in helping you learn how to reconnect with your nervous system. When I bring up psychological ideas in therapy, my main goal is to use them as tools, not as "the answer" to "fix" or "control" you with.
I fully welcome alternative ways of knowing, sensing, and understanding. I particularly lean toward creativity and non-verbal modalities.
I do not come into the therapist role believing that I have "the answers." I come into this role believing that healing happens with others (not alone) and I am honored to be a partner in your journey. I commit to see the best in you, believe in the possiblites for you, and to do the best to support, guide, and understand what is already trying to unfold within you.
